Bahamarama by Bob Morris
by Joanne Sinchuk

During Hurricane Frances, when everything in South Florida is closed down, those of us with huge to-be-read piles use the opportunity to make a dent in it. So it was very appropriate that I read a book with a hurricane in it.
Bahamarama is a first book, by another new Florida mystery author. And, this one is another good one.
Former Miami Dolphins linebacker Zack Chasteen, is trying to return home to his Florida charter boat business after serving two years in a Florida prison. He has an envelope from his girlfriend containing a note which effectively says meet me at the Albury Beach Club on Harbour Island in the Bahamas, a charter flight ticket to get there, and 20 hundred-dollar bills.
What more could a guy ask for? What he got was kidnapped by professional gangsters. He escapes to the Bahamas, where his girlfriend is waiting for
him, only to find that she has been kidnapped in his place.
Bob Morris has a good writing style - hardboiled, but not too; funny, but not too; clever, but not too. And drops of witticisms (particularly as they pertain to drinking) abound. "Put clear on top of brown, wake up with a frown." Although this is a first book, he has been columnist and editor for
several South Florida newspapers and periodicals, and this is the first of a series set in Florida and the Carribean. He has blurbs from Dave Barry, Carl Hiaasen, and Randy Wayne White. And he delivers on them. This is a great first book.
